DIG hosts Housing Finance for the Poor Workshop March 2007

DIG held an initial program design workshop in Mumbai, India on March 21-24, 2007 as its first annual stakeholder workshops. This provided an opportunity to report on progress, receive feedback and help implement course corrections for the learning grant.

The workshop was well attended and included representatives from Habitat for Humanity International, the Institute for Financial Management and Research, Mercy Corps, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, Finmark Trust, Cornell University, Tameer Bank of Pakistan, and ICICI Bank of India.

The program was structured around discussions of both the overall themes related to housing finance as well as the specific efforts that DIG has planned in each country around these themes.  Additionally, program participants were addressed by local representatives in India’s financial community and were provided a tour of local community organizations in Mumbai.
